Founder Marty Duytschaver opened Sun and Surf on Anna Maria Island in 1983. He started off screen printing and designing his own merchandise, as well as, selling shells he found locally. After several years of overcoming the local tourist seasons, he was able to expand. Marty and his wife Heather loved running their business, raising a family and their common interest in parrots. They were happy to have found a way to bring all of their joys together, by bringing the birds to the store.

Their daughter Jennifer began working at the store as a young girl; standing on a stool to ring up customers. Jennifer is now the buyer and purchases the top rated items in the store today. This family owned and operated business strives to provide exceptional quality and extraordinary customer service. Sun and Surf is a fun tropical experience while providing the entire family with high quality clothes, shoes, swim wear, accessories, beach supplies and souvenirs.
